What Fault 24 Means
Fault 24 belongs to the automatic ice maker. The probe that tells the control system whether the tray has frozen through is reading above 45,000 ohms - an open circuit, in F&P's terms - so the harvest cycle has lost the signal it waits for before it will tip a batch of cubes out.
Common Causes of Fault 24
- The ice tray probe has gone open circuit
- Its lead pulled or broken where the ice maker is serviced
- A connector at the module not fully seated
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the obvious non-problem first: an ice maker switched off at its own control, or a bin pushed in only part way, will also stop production, and neither is a repair.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Disconnect the refrigerator before reaching into the ice maker bay, because the fill valve and tray heater in that bay are mains-powered.
- The ice maker comes out as an assembly on a short loom, and pulling it beyond that loom parts the very lead being investigated.
- A probe clipped back on at a different point on the tray reads a different temperature and holds the harvest cycle just as effectively as a broken one.
- Getting the tray back level matters more than it looks - a tray that sits off level overfills at one end and leaves ice welded into the mold.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
