What Fault 41 Means
Fault 41 reports the second of the two ice maker solenoid driver transistors as short circuit. The checks F&P lists are the same as for its partner code - measure the solenoid resistance, inspect the wiring and connections at both the solenoid and the module, and change the power/control module if those prove sound.
Common Causes of Fault 41
- A solenoid problem that has damaged the second driver transistor
- A driver stage on the module failed short
- Wiring damage shorting the solenoid circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the refrigerator's water supply off at its valve as a precaution, then arrange the visit. There is no home test for a failed driver stage.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Close the supply valve and unplug the refrigerator before any inspection, in that order, because the circuit involved switches mains to a water valve.
- Two driver problems appearing together point at the solenoid rather than at coincidence, so the coil deserves measuring before a module is ordered.
- Working on the fill line means moving the cabinet, and a water line kinked while it is pulled out becomes a new problem of its own.
- Reusing an old compression olive when the joint goes back together is the usual way a repaired ice maker starts leaking a week later.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
