What 27 Means
Fault 27 is the fabric softener valve - identified by its yellow clip - failing the same diagnostic check that produces Fault 26 on the detergent side. The module measures a voltage from the valve diagnostic circuit that indicates this valve is not responding, and the probable causes mirror those of its neighbor.
Common Causes of 27
- A connector off or poorly seated on the fabric softener valve
- An open circuit coil on that valve
- Bent pins where the harness meets the valve block
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With both taps closed and the machine unplugged, check the yellow-clipped valve connector is seated properly. It is worth doing at the same time as any work on the detergent valve, since the two share a block and a harness run.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Close both taps and unplug the machine first, since the valve block carries mains voltage on a pressurised water connection.
- Fabric softener leaves a sticky residue that traps grit around the valve seat, so a coil that measures fine can still be mechanically restricted.
- Testing a coil properly means measuring it disconnected, which is not something to attempt with the machine still on supply.
- These valves are sold as part of an assembly on some builds, so confirming which coil has failed before ordering avoids paying for three valves to replace one.
