What 49 Means
Fault 49 narrows the same valve diagnostic down to the cold inlet valve specifically. F&P names an incorrectly connected harness or an open circuit coil as the most likely causes, and directs the technician to the same service procedure as Fault 48.
Common Causes of 49
- The cold valve coil open circuit
- A harness connector not seated on the cold valve
- Bent pins in the valve connector
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the cold tap is fully open and that the cold hose is not kinked, then unplug the machine and confirm the cold valve connector is pushed fully home. Those three take a few minutes and cover the simple explanations.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Turn the cold tap off and unplug the machine before the valve is disturbed, in that order, since it is a live solenoid on a pressurised connection.
- An open coil and a bad connection read the same way to the module, and only one of them needs a part.
- Valve bodies on this platform carry more than one coil, so a careless swap can disturb a neighbouring circuit that was working.
- Cross-threading an inlet hose onto a replacement valve is the usual way a repaired washer starts dripping behind the cabinet.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
