What 60 Means
Fault 60 is a power-up check that failed on the motor control module: it compared its stored memory against a known reference and the two did not agree. F&P lists a single remedy, replacement of the module, which places this among the more definitive problems on the platform.
Common Causes of 60
- Stored memory on the module no longer matching its reference
- A supply interruption corrupting memory during a write
- A memory device on the module failing with age
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug for five minutes and restore power once, because the check that failed runs at every start-up. If the machine comes up clean and stays clean, the comparison passed on the retry.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the washer before the module is reached, because it is mounted directly on the incoming mains circuit.
- The pressure sensing on this platform lives inside the same module, so this one part carries several functions and one wrong diagnosis is expensive.
- A module fitted without being configured for this machine will start logging setup problems instead.
- Fisher & Paykel no longer supplies washers to the US market, which makes sourcing by exact reference rather than by appearance a practical necessity.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
