What 220 Means
Fault 220 is raised at power-up when the motor control module detects a problem in its memory relating to the model map - the stored description of which machine it is fitted to. F&P's action is to change the motor control module, which distinguishes this from the size setting problems that can simply be re-entered.
Common Causes of 220
- Model map data missing or corrupted in module memory
- A module supplied unprogrammed or programmed for another model
- Memory damage following a supply disturbance
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug for five minutes and restore power once. This check runs at every start-up, so a problem that clears on the retry was not a permanent memory failure.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the module is reached, since it sits on the incoming mains circuit.
- A module without its model map does not know what machine it is driving, so any attempt to run it that way risks driving parts outside their limits.
- Modules for this platform must be matched by exact reference, which on a line no longer sold in the United States is a parts-knowledge job rather than a catalog lookup.
- A replacement fitted without completing the configuration steps produces a fresh set of setup problems in place of this one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
