What 64 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 64 applies to SmartDrive phases 5 and 6. The water level sensor on these machines reports as a frequency rather than a voltage, and this code means the module has received signals below 66 kHz - outside the valid band. F&P's action is to replace the motor control module.
Common Causes of 64 (SmartDrive)
- A pressure transducer producing an out-of-band frequency
- A sensing circuit problem inside the motor control module
- A pressure tube problem presenting a false pressure to the sensor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug and confirm the pressure tube from the tub is attached and not kinked, since a tube problem changes what the transducer sees before the electronics ever get involved.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the sensing area is opened, because the transducer shares its mounting with the mains-fed module.
- A frequency reading cannot be verified with an ordinary meter, so this is not an error an owner can confirm.
- On these phases the transducer is built into the module, so the repair is a module replacement rather than a sensor swap.
- The tube has to be checked first, or you replace an expensive module to cure a kinked plastic pipe.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
