What 132 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 132 covers SmartDrive phases 1 to 4 and records excess current detected momentarily in the motor or the electronic switches. F&P gives motor harness resistance figures that differ by phase - roughly 2.6 ohms on Phase 1, 12.2 ohms on Phases 2 to 4, and 32 ohms on Phases 5 and 6 - and asks specifically about water reaching the module.
Common Causes of 132 (SmartDrive)
- Water leaking onto the motor control module
- Corrosion or damage at the stator or rotor position sensor connections
- A motor harness problem causing a momentary current spike
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the machine and look underneath and behind it for any sign of water having run down onto the control area, because F&P asks that question directly as part of this diagnosis.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before anything near the stator is touched, because the current this code describes is the full motor drive current.
- The correct resistance figure changes with the phase, and measuring against the wrong reference produces a confident wrong answer.
- Water reaching the module is both the cause and a hazard, so the leak has to be found rather than dried up.
- A brass bridge terminal damaged by water can look intact while no longer conducting properly, which needs inspection rather than a meter alone.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
