What 15 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 15 on Phase 1 machines means the display module read a voltage on the pump circuit that it did not expect. F&P adds a note worth knowing: the same error can appear simply because the machine is running below its rated supply voltage with the pump on for more than four seconds - so the wall can produce this code as readily as the washer.
Common Causes of 15 (SmartDrive)
- A supply voltage below the machine's rated range while the pump runs
- A problem in the pump circuit sensing on the display module
- A pump drawing abnormally and pulling the circuit voltage down
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug for a minute and restart once. Then think about the supply: a long extension lead, a heavily loaded circuit, or a known low-voltage area all fit the manual's own explanation for this code.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the pump circuit is investigated, since it is fed from the mains side of the control electronics.
- Because a low supply alone can produce this code, replacing a board before the voltage has been checked risks curing nothing at all.
- Supply work beyond the plug is licensed electrical work in most places and is not appliance repair.
- A pump that is dragging the circuit down has its own underlying problem, which a module change leaves untouched.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
