What Fault 20 Means
Fault 20 records the door actuator as stalled - the powered mechanism that moves the door has met resistance it cannot overcome. F&P refers the technician to the procedures for the neighbouring actuator code rather than giving Fault 20 its own remedy list.
Common Causes of Fault 20
- Weight resting on the lid loading the actuator
- Clothing or an object obstructing the door travel
- A binding actuator or grabber mechanism
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that nothing is resting on the dryer lid and that no clothing is trapped in the door opening. Both are on F&P's list for the related actuator problems and both are within reach.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Switch off at the breaker before the door mechanism is opened, since the actuator supply comes from a mains-fed module.
- Forcing a stalled actuator by hand strips its drive, which turns an obstruction into a parts job.
- F&P's related procedure includes checking whether the top deck has bowed inward, which is not something to correct by bending it back.
- Actuators on this platform are set to a travel range, and one reassembled out of that range stalls again on the first cycle.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
