What E2 Means
E2 means a cooking zone has overheated past its safe operating limit — frequently the result of an empty pan left on the zone, cookware that's boiled dry, or cookware that isn't well suited to the zone. If E2 keeps recurring with no obvious explanation, that points instead to a genuine sensor or electronics fault.
Common Causes of E2
- Cookware left empty, or boiled dry, on a zone
- Cookware poorly matched to, or incompatible with, the zone's power level
- A failed zone temperature sensor producing a false overheat reading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off the affected zone and let it cool, then check whether the pan was left empty or nearly empty, or whether the cookware matches the power level selected — that alone clears a good portion of E2 cases without any repair.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- When E2 recurs despite appropriate cookware and normal use, testing the sensor means opening the cooktop housing and working near high-current coil wiring — line-voltage work best left to a technician.
- Chalk a genuine sensor fault up to a cookware issue and you keep relying on a zone that isn't actually protecting itself from overheating anymore.
- Sitting under the glass near the induction coil, the zone sensor is easy to disturb — bumping the wrong connector while checking it can create a second fault.
- Opening the housing to reach the sensor typically forfeits the remaining warranty.
