What Er20 Means
Er20 traces to the cooktop's touch controller itself — the capacitive touch interface board used to set power levels and select zones.
Common Causes of Er20
- The touch controller board has failed
- Moisture or a grease film interfering with the touch interface
- A loose connector between the touch controller and the power unit

Wipe the touch surface clean of any moisture, grease film, or spilled food that could be confusing the controller, then cycle power at the breaker.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Wipe down the surface without cutting power first and you're working right next to live control circuitry.
- It's easy to confuse this with a full power-unit failure and end up replacing the wrong, costlier part.
- A static discharge from bare hands during handling can damage the touch controller's circuit board.
- Put the control panel back together with a connector even slightly off and other zones or functions can stop responding entirely.
- Opening the panel to reach the touch controller generally forfeits the remaining warranty on the control assembly.
