What A70 Means

A70 covers temperature sensing at the NTC - the thermistor the DW60 uses to read water temperature. The manual names a poor harness connection as the likely cause, gives 10,000 ohms at 25 degrees Celsius as the reference value for the sensor, and only then moves on to replacing the sensor or the controller.

Common Causes of A70

  • A poor or corroded connection in the sensor harness
  • A thermistor reading away from its reference value
  • A controller input that has failed to read the sensor correctly

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Not an owner check. What is worth reporting is whether wash results have changed - water running cooler or hotter than it used to is the practical face of a sensing problem that has been drifting for a while.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The machine must be off at the breaker before the sensor harness is reached, since it runs alongside the mains feed to the heating circuit.
  • The published reference is a single point on a curve, so comparing a reading against it without allowing for the actual water temperature gives a false verdict.
  • F&P's sequence puts the harness first and the sensor second for a reason: the connection fails more often than the part does.
  • On these machines the sensing function lives with the turbidity sensor assembly, so a careless swap can disturb a second sensor that was working.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

A70 FAQ

It is the type of temperature sensor used here - a thermistor whose resistance falls as it gets warmer, which is how the controller converts a resistance into a water temperature.

It is one of the plausible explanations, because a controller working from a bad temperature reading will stop heating at the wrong moment.
