What F5 Means
F5 means the lid motors pulled more current than they should have the moment they started. F&P's own summary of the cause is blunt: the lid actuator is jammed, either up or down. This is the drawer's powered sealing lid, not the drawer front.
Common Causes of F5
- A dish or utensil standing up into the path of the sealing lid
- A lid actuator seized in its travel
- A yoke binding front or rear so the lid cannot move freely
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the drawer and look along the top rim for a plate, handle, or tall item standing proud of the basket - anything sitting where the lid has to come down will stop it dead and produce exactly this code. Reload lower and run the cycle again.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Before anything is touched inside the housing, switch the drawer off at the breaker, because the actuators are driven from the same board that carries the mains supply.
- Pushing the lid down by hand to free it bends the yoke arms, and a bent yoke seals unevenly for the rest of the machine's life.
- An obstruction and a seized actuator generate the same code, so clearing the basket proves one and only a diagnostic run proves the other.
- The actuators are handed left and right on most builds, and a pair swapped over during reassembly drives the lid out of square.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
