What F6 Means

F6 means the lid motors ran but never met the resistance that tells the controller the lid has arrived and clamped. F&P points at actuators that are not properly joined to their yokes or mounting bracket, or yokes that have unclipped from the lid itself. The lid here is the powered panel that seals the top of the drawer, not the drawer front you pull on.

Common Causes of F6

  • An actuator that has come away from its yoke or mounting bracket
  • A yoke unclipped from the lid
  • A worn actuator that no longer develops full travel

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

There is no safe owner fix, but one observation helps a lot: watch whether the lid visibly moves at all when a cycle starts. A lid that travels but never seats tells a very different story from one that does not move.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Isolate the unit at the breaker before the drawer is opened up, since the actuator wiring shares its route with the mains feed into the controller.
  • A lid that never clamps means the drawer cannot seal, and running it anyway invites the wash water straight out onto the floor.
  • Reclipping a yoke by feel is how they end up half-engaged, which passes a bench test and fails on the first hot cycle.
  • The drawer has to come out of its housing to reach this mechanism, and it must be squared to the cabinet again afterwards or the lid will never seal evenly.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F6 FAQ

Same mechanism, opposite reading. F5 is too much current because something is blocking the lid; F6 is too little because nothing is loading the motors at all.

It could. The lid is what seals the drawer, so a cycle run without it clamping properly is a cycle with nothing holding the water in.
