What 108 Means
Fault 108 is a CRC error on the link between the display and the motor control module. A CRC is a checksum sent with each message so the receiver can tell whether it arrived intact; this code says one did not. F&P files it with the other communication errors and refers the repair to the same procedure as code 106.
Common Causes of 108
- Electrical noise or a degraded connector corrupting messages on the link
- Moisture in the console affecting the communication line
- A module whose transmitter or receiver is failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the machine for five minutes and restore power. A single corrupted message clears there; a code that reappears on every cycle means something is corrupting the link consistently.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the washer before the console is opened, because the communication harness is routed with the mains feed.
- A checksum failure proves a message was damaged but says nothing about where, so the harness has to be tested rather than a board guessed at.
- Damp above the tub is a recurring cause on top-loaders, and drying a connector without finding the water's route only postpones the problem.
- The console housing seals against splashes, and one reassembled without that seal gives the next overfill a clear path to the electronics.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
