What 12 Means
Fault 12 is the flood protection error, documented identically on AquaSmart and across SmartDrive phases 1 to 6: the control module found the water level above flood level, ran the pump for thirty seconds, and the level did not come down. Either the valves are letting water in faster than the pump can remove it, or the pump cannot remove it at all.
Common Causes of 12
- A water valve stuck open mechanically or held on electrically
- A blocked pump or drain hose preventing pump-out
- A drain hose set too low or kinked so water siphons back in
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn off both water taps behind the machine straight away, then unplug it. That stops the fill side while you arrange a visit, and it is the single most useful thing you can do.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Shut both taps and unplug the machine before anything else is done, because this problem describes water winning against the pump and the escalation from that is a flooded floor.
- A valve that has failed mechanically and one that the module is holding on electrically look identical from outside, and only the second is a module problem.
- Tilting the machine to reach the pump spills whatever the drum is still holding across the floor you were trying to protect.
- Pump housings seal on a gasket that is not designed to be reused, and one refitted on the old gasket weeps quietly under the machine.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
