What 235 Means
Fault 235 is described by F&P as a lid lock problem in which the lock was not activated when the motor control module instructed it to. The documented check is the lock's resistance, which should read 63 ohms within ten per cent at 20°C, with the lid lock assembly replaced if it falls outside that.
Common Causes of 235
- A lid lock coil measuring outside 63 ohms plus or minus ten per cent
- A short circuit in the lid lock wiring
- A lock assembly that has failed mechanically
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look for the mechanical explanation first: something resting on the lid, or a lid that has been dropped hard enough to bend its tang, will both stop the lock doing its job.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the lock circuit is measured, since probing a shorted mains-fed circuit while it is energised is a real shock risk.
- A coil measured through a damaged harness reads outside its band when the coil itself is fine, so the wiring is tested first.
- The spin cycle depends on this lock, which makes it a safety part rather than a convenience one.
- A tang bent by forcing the lid never seats correctly afterwards and is not a part that adjusts back.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
