Check that the temperature dial hasn’t been bumped toward a warmer setting, then look at the condenser coils — usually along the base of the unit — for a coating of dust or pet hair thick enough to trap heat against them.
Airflow Between Compartments Can Be the Culprit
French door refrigerators route cold air from the freezer section through internal ducts to cool the fresh-food compartment. If a vent gets blocked by food packed too close to the back wall, one side of the cabinet can run warm even while the compressor and freezer are working normally.
A Sensor Losing Accuracy
A drifting temperature sensor is one of the more frequent causes we diagnose — it feeds inaccurate readings to the control board, which then shuts the compressor off before the cabinet has actually reached a safe temperature.
When It’s Bigger Than That
Less often, the main control board fails outright, or the sealed refrigeration system itself develops a fault that only an EPA-certified technician can properly diagnose.
