What F1 Means
F1 signals that the DishDrawer's flood switch — a float-type sensor sitting in the base pan under the drawer — has picked up standing water it shouldn't, and the unit has powered down as a preventive measure. Functionally, it's F&P's equivalent of the leak-protection systems built into Bosch's AquaStop or Viking's moisture sensor.
Common Causes of F1
- An actual leak coming from a hose, seal, or the drawer gasket
- Wash water escaping into the base pan because the drawer isn't sealing all the way shut
- The flood switch itself sticking or malfunctioning and firing a false alarm
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Shut the water supply off at the valve first, then check whether the drawer is actually sealing shut — an oversized dish propping the drawer open even slightly, or a drawer that isn't latching fully, can trip the flood switch without any real leak present.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The whole point of this shutoff is to catch water before it ever reaches the kitchen floor, so starting another cycle just to see what happens defeats that purpose and risks the very flood it's meant to stop.
- An unresolved leak can seep under nearby cabinetry for days without ever showing on the surface, and by the time it's noticed the damage is usually well beyond what the original fault caused.
- Because the drawer's electrical connections sit right above the base pan, poking around for standing water before killing power at the breaker is asking for a shock.
