Maintenance & Care

Caring for Your Fisher & Paykel Range Burners and Grates

A little routine burner care goes a long way toward preventing the clicking-but-not-lighting calls that make up a big share of range service visits.

Gas burner components are almost entirely mechanical, which means a small amount of regular attention prevents a meaningful share of the ignition complaints we see on Fisher & Paykel ranges.

Let It Cool, Then Wipe Gently

Once a burner has fully cooled, wipe the small spark module beside the burner head with a dry cloth rather than spraying cleaner directly onto it — the spark gap is narrow enough that even a light film of moisture can prevent a reliable spark.

Keep the Cap Ports Clear

The ring of small holes around each burner cap collects grease and dried food over time, and a blocked port is one of the most common reasons a burner clicks steadily but the flame never catches. A soft brush or a toothpick worked carefully into each port clears them without scratching the finish.

Dry Grates and Caps Fully Before Cooking

After washing grates or caps, let them air-dry completely before setting them back in place and lighting a burner. Trying to light a burner while its cap is still damp is a common, easily avoidable cause of a no-light complaint.

When Cleaning Isn’t Enough

If regular cleaning doesn’t restore consistent ignition, or you ever catch a whiff of gas, stop and book a Fisher & Paykel range repair visit rather than continuing to troubleshoot it yourself.
