What F7 Means
F7 flags a door-lock problem on the oven side of the range — the control board can't confirm the lock mechanism is in the position it expects, most often surfacing right after a self-clean cycle when the lock is under the most use.
Common Causes of F7
- The door lock motor or solenoid has failed
- The lock position switch is misaligned or has failed
- Mechanical binding in the lock mechanism itself
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power the range down at the breaker for a few minutes and let it fully reset; a lock mechanism that was simply out of sync with the board sometimes clears this way.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A door that's mechanically stuck locked after self-clean can still be hot enough inside to burn you if forced open — let it cool and get a proper diagnosis first.
- Reaching the lock mechanism means removing the inner door panel, which sets the latch alignment, and a panel refitted slightly out of true leaves the door catching or sealing badly afterwards.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
