What Fault 15 Means
Fault 15 says the fan serving the PC compartment is drawing less current than the module expects. Per F&P's table that means either the wiring to it is open circuit or the fan itself has failed - in both cases the compartment loses the forced airflow ActiveSmart depends on to spread cold evenly.
Common Causes of Fault 15
- The fan motor has seized or burned out
- An open circuit in the fan wiring or at either connector
- A fan blade fouled by ice, stalling the motor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the door open, listen: on most models you can hear the compartment fan spin up shortly after the door closes. Silence where you used to hear airflow is consistent with this problem, though it is not a diagnosis on its own.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Disconnect the appliance from the outlet before reaching behind any interior panel, as the fan loom runs beside the mains supply into the module.
- A stalled fan and a broken wire read the same way to the module, so the problem has to be traced rather than guessed at.
- Ice fouling a blade is a sign of something else going wrong, and swapping the fan without asking why it iced leaves the real cause running.
- Fan housings are moulded to hold the blade at a set clearance, and one reassembled fractionally out of true grinds against its shroud until it stalls again.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
