What Fault 22 Means

Some ActiveSmart cabinets carry a second probe in the PC compartment, and F&P's table calls it PC sensor 2. Fault 22 is raised when that probe measures above 45,000 ohms, which the manual annotates as the sensor reading cold - the electrical signature of an open circuit rather than a genuinely frigid compartment.

Common Causes of Fault 22

  • The second compartment probe has failed open
  • Its plug has lifted out of the module socket
  • A break in the lead between probe and module

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

No owner test applies. What is useful is knowing whether your model actually has two probes in that compartment, which your model number will tell the technician before the visit starts.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The module this probe plugs into also switches mains voltage, so the appliance has to come off supply before the cover does.
  • With two probes covering one compartment it is easy to test the wrong one and condemn a healthy part.
  • A probe pushed back into the wrong pocket reports the neighbouring air stream instead of the shelf it is meant to watch.
  • Interior fixings in this area are moulded clips rather than screws, and once snapped they leave the panel rattling against the liner.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

Fault 22 FAQ

On cabinets with a separately controlled zone, a second probe lets the control system hold a different target in part of the compartment - which is also why losing it upsets that zone specifically.

It can. If the control system cannot read that zone it will fall back on a default behavior rather than following what you set.
