What A82 Means
A82 is the third of the DW60's turbidity alerts and the subtlest: the sensor is producing a signal, and the signal is inside range, but it will not settle. The manual attributes that instability to a dirty optical lens or to connection problems rather than to outright sensor failure.
Common Causes of A82
- Debris circulating past the sensor window during the wash
- A partially soiled lens giving an inconsistent reading
- An intermittent connection in the sensor harness
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean the sump and lens as for the other turbidity alerts, and while the filters are out check for a trapped seed, grain of rice, or shard of glass drifting past the window - moving debris is a classic cause of an unsteady optical reading.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Switch off at the breaker and let the water cool before putting a hand into the sump area.
- An intermittent connection is the hardest of the three causes to find and the easiest to make worse by pulling connectors apart repeatedly.
- Replacing a sensor that was only reading through a film of grease is money spent on the wrong half of the problem.
- The sump is where sharp fragments collect, so anything felt for blind rather than looked at is a cut waiting to happen.
