What EC1 Means
EC1 is the first of the DW60's motor-circuit problems: the driver device that feeds the wash motor has reported an error. F&P's instruction is to check the wiring harness between the motor and the controller, and then to replace the main board.
Common Causes of EC1
- A failed driver stage on the main board
- A damaged or loose harness between motor and controller
- A motor problem loading the driver beyond its limits
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker for two minutes and restore power once. A driver problem that was a one-off will clear that way, and one that returns immediately is telling you it is real.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Cut power at the breaker before the controller housing is opened, because the motor driver carries mains-level current and the board can hold a charge briefly after isolation.
- A driver fails for a reason, and fitting a new board without checking the motor risks the new driver going the same way.
- The controller housing is splash-sealed at the front of the machine, and reclosed without that seal seated the next spill lands on the board.
- Boards are configuration-specific on this platform, so ordering without the exact model reference is a common and costly slip.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
