What F1 08 Means
F1 08 is logged by the clock board on F&P ranges as an I2C communication error - I2C being the two-wire bus the boards use to talk to each other. The manual's instruction is to check the connection to the power board and to replace the power board if the problem stays.
Common Causes of F1 08
- A degraded connector on the two-wire bus between boards
- A damaged conductor in the interconnecting harness
- A power board that has stopped driving the bus
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power the range down at the breaker for two minutes and back on. A bus error that clears and stays away was a startup glitch; one that returns each time means the link itself needs tracing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Isolate the range at the breaker before any connector is reached, because the harness carrying this bus runs beside the mains supply to the elements.
- A two-wire bus fails when either wire fails, so a continuity test on both is what narrows it down rather than a look at the plug.
- Replacing the power board on a bus error is the documented fallback, not the first move, and fitting one first is the expensive order to do it in.
- Drawing a range out from the wall to reach the rear takes it past its anti-tip bracket, and a range put back without that bracket re-engaged can tip when the door is loaded.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
