What 3 Means
Fault 3 is the motor control module reporting that it has found a memory error - not a failure to write, as with Fault 1, but bad data discovered in memory it was relying on. F&P's documented response is again replacement of the module.
Common Causes of 3
- Corrupted data in the module's memory
- A failing memory device on the module
- Damage from a supply surge or repeated brown-outs
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Pull the plug for five minutes and restore power once. A module that clears and runs normally afterwards had a transient; one that logs Fault 3 again at power-up has a real memory failure.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Take the machine off supply before any cover is removed, since the module sits directly on the incoming mains.
- Memory problems can make the machine behave oddly in ways that look like other problems, so chasing the signs rather than the code leads nowhere.
- The module on this platform also carries the pressure sensing, so a module bought on a guess is an expensive guess.
- Supply quality is worth checking before a replacement goes in, because whatever corrupted the first module is still in the wall.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
