What 72 Means
Fault 72 is logged for maximum positive drift on the pressure transducer - the reading has wandered steadily upward over time rather than failing outright. F&P records the sensor as failing or damaged and calls for it to be replaced.
Common Causes of 72
- Gradual drift in the transducer's output with age
- Contamination slowly building in the sensor port
- A sensing element degraded by repeated moisture exposure
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is nothing to adjust, but the history is useful: drift problems usually follow a period where fill levels have been quietly getting less generous, and noticing when that started helps.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the sensing assembly is opened, since it shares its housing with the mains-fed module.
- Drift is the hardest of the transducer problems to confirm without reference readings, which is exactly why guessing is expensive here.
- A transducer replaced without clearing the moisture path that degraded it will drift again on the same schedule.
- On this platform the transducer is built into the motor control module, so what sounds like a sensor swap can turn into a module replacement.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
