What 233 Means
Fault 233 means there was a problem reading the EEPROM data coming from the motor control module. The data exists, but it cannot be retrieved reliably, and F&P's documented action is replacement of the motor control module.
Common Causes of 233
- A failing memory device on the motor control module
- A read operation interrupted by an unstable supply
- Age-related degradation of the module electronics
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
One five-minute power-down is worth trying, since a read error can be transient. If the code is back at the next power-up, the memory itself is the problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before any work near the module, because it carries the mains supply as well as the control electronics.
- A read error and a write error point at the same part but describe different failures, and only the code distinguishes them.
- Supply quality is worth establishing before a module is fitted, since repeated brown-outs damage memory over time.
- A replacement needs its configuration completed afterwards, and one skipped leaves the machine logging setup problems.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
