What 247 Means

Fault 247 means water is being drained when it should be recirculating. The SmartPump uses a flapper to choose between sending water back into the tub and sending it down the drain, and F&P names a flapper stuck in the drain position as the most likely cause.

Common Causes of 247

  • A flapper stuck in the drain position
  • A broken or damaged flapper
  • Debris preventing the flapper from swinging freely

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Unplug the machine, drain what you can, and check whether anything obvious has lodged in the pump area. The flapper is a moving part in a path that collects lint and small objects.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Unplug the washer and expect water before the pump housing is opened, because this problem means water has been going down the drain that should have stayed in the machine.
  • Forcing a stuck flapper by hand snaps it, and a broken flapper cannot recirculate at all rather than merely doing it badly.
  • The pump housing seals on a gasket that does not reseat reliably, which is how a repaired machine starts leaking underneath.
  • A flapper that sticks intermittently behaves perfectly on a bench test and fails again under real flow.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

247 FAQ

The SmartPump can push wash water back over the load rather than straight out, which is how the machine wets and rinses a full drum using less water.

Poor rinsing and detergent residue on clothes are typical, because water that should be circulating over the load is leaving down the drain instead.
