What 252 Means
Fault 252 is a self-test result: the motor control module tested its own motor bridge electronics and sensed current flowing when there should have been none. That is a switching device failing to turn fully off, and F&P's action is replacement of the motor control module.
Common Causes of 252
- A switching device in the motor bridge failed partly on
- A power stage damaged by an earlier overload
- Degradation of the bridge electronics with age
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the machine and leave it unplugged. A power stage that passes current when commanded off is not something to keep energising while you decide what to do.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Leave the washer unplugged until it is looked at, because a bridge that cannot switch off cleanly can energise the motor at moments the control system did not intend.
- The motor bridge handles mains-level current and its parts can retain charge for a period after the machine is isolated.
- A bridge fails for a reason, so the motor and its harness deserve checking before a module is fitted or the new one meets the same conditions.
- This test runs inside a sealed assembly; there is no connector to reseat and nothing an owner can measure to confirm it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
