What Fault 11 Means
Fault 11 reports the lid lock circuit as open. F&P asks the technician to inspect the lid lock harness and the coil for continuity before replacing the sensor module - so the problem is as likely to be a wire as it is the lock itself.
Common Causes of Fault 11
- An open circuit lid lock coil
- A break in the lid lock harness
- A connector off at the lock or at the sensor module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check first that the lid closes fully and that nothing has been left resting on it. Beyond that, an open circuit needs measuring rather than looking at.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Isolate the dryer at the breaker before the lid area is opened, because the lock circuit is fed from a mains-derived supply.
- The lid lock is a safety device on a machine with a powered door, so it is not something to bypass to get a cycle to run.
- Harness breaks inside intact insulation are invisible and only show on a continuity test.
- Lid mechanisms on these dryers are adjusted to engage a tongue precisely, and one reassembled out of alignment never locks reliably again.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
