What Fault 24 Means
Fault 24 means the door actuator completed its movement, but took longer than the control allows. It is the mildest of the actuator codes - nothing is open circuit and nothing has stalled outright, but the mechanism is moving more slowly than it should.
Common Causes of Fault 24
- Friction or lint build-up in the door mechanism
- An actuator that is weakening with age
- A low actuator supply voltage slowing the movement
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that nothing is resting on the lid and that the door hinge area is clean and free of lint build-up. A mechanism working against friction is exactly what a slow movement describes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Isolate the dryer at the breaker before the door mechanism is cleaned or inspected, since the actuator wiring runs with mains cabling.
- Lubricating a mechanism with the wrong product attracts lint and makes the friction worse within weeks.
- A slow actuator often precedes a stalled one, so treating this as cosmetic postpones a bigger problem rather than avoiding it.
- The supply rail is worth checking alongside the mechanism, because a sagging rail slows the actuator without anything being mechanically wrong.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
