What A1 Means

A1 is an alert rather than a failure code. F&P separates the two in its diagnostic documentation: A-codes are customer-facing conditions that usually clear once the appliance cools or is switched off and on, and A1 specifically says something has got too hot - the power board, the clock board, or the cavity itself.

Common Causes of A1

  • The cooling fan not moving enough air past the electronics
  • Vents blocked, or the oven installed where heat cannot escape
  • A cavity temperature sensor reading higher than reality

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Switch the oven off and let it stand until it is properly cold, then start it again. Check at the same time that nothing is stored against the vents and that the oven is not sharing a confined space with another heat source.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Let the oven cool fully before anything is moved or inspected, because the surfaces that carry this heat stay dangerous long after the display has gone quiet.
  • Clearing an alert and cooking again without finding out why the oven overheated leaves the electronics taking the same punishment.
  • A sensor reporting falsely high and a genuine cooling problem look the same from the front, and only one is fixed by clearing the vents.
  • Drawing a built-in oven out of its cabinet leaves its full weight on the cabinet lip and the mounting screws, which is how face frames get damaged.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

A1 FAQ

F&P files it as an alert - a condition you can often resolve yourself by letting the oven cool and restarting it - rather than as a part failure code.

A repeating alert points at the cooling fan or the cavity sensor rather than at a one-off hot day, and that is the point to have it looked at.
