What F31 Means
F31 sits alongside F30 and is also a missing display signal, but F&P ties it specifically to the clock or data line of the link. Those two conductors carry the timing and the content of every message between display and module, so losing either leaves the module listening to silence.
Common Causes of F31
- An open or shorted clock line in the display harness
- A damaged data line between display and power module
- Corrosion in the connector carrying those two conductors
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Try a full power-down of two minutes as a first step. Where F31 clears and stays away, it was a transient; where it returns on the next start, the link itself needs tracing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The appliance has to be off supply before the harness is reached, since it shares a route with mains wiring to the module.
- Clock and data problems look identical from outside, and swapping parts until the code clears is a slow and expensive way to find out which line failed.
- A connector re-made without the right crimp tool gives a joint that passes a quick test and fails again once the cabinet warms and cools a few times.
- Pulling a built-in cabinet forward to reach the module puts its full weight on the water line and the supply cord behind it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
