What 35 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 35 is logged when the display module sends the motor control module a signal it should not have sent - a false reset instruction. F&P names the twelve-way harness connection between the two boards as the primary source, and replacement of the display module as the secondary.
Common Causes of 35 (SmartDrive)
- A bad contact in the twelve-way harness between the modules
- Corrosion or damp bridging conductors in that harness
- A display module generating spurious signals
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the wall for a minute and restart. A single false signal can follow a supply disturbance; one that repeats points at the harness or the console board.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the harness is reached, since it runs alongside the mains supply into the console.
- A false signal on a reset line can restart the motor control module mid-cycle, so the machine is better left off than run while this is present.
- F&P puts the harness first and the display second, and inverting that order is how a board gets fitted to cure a connector.
- Continuity alone does not prove a harness good here - a conductor can pass a test and still cross-talk once the machine vibrates.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
