What 50 Means
Fault 50 is the hot-side counterpart of Fault 49: the valve diagnostic circuit has read a voltage indicating the hot inlet valve is failing. The manual again points at a harness connected incorrectly or an open circuit coil, and refers the repair to the same procedure as Fault 48.
Common Causes of 50
- The hot valve coil gone open circuit
- A loose or misaligned connector at the hot valve
- A machine plumbed to cold supply only
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Confirm the hot tap is open and the hot hose is clear, then unplug and check that the hot valve connector is properly seated. Machines plumbed cold-only will show this problem by design, which is worth knowing before anyone orders a part.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Close the hot tap and unplug the machine before the valve is approached, because the hot supply is both live water and a scald risk at the connection.
- Scale builds faster on the hot side, so a valve that measures fine electrically can still be restricted mechanically - a different problem with a different fix.
- Replacing the valve assembly when the harness was to blame is the common and avoidable expense on this code.
- The hot inlet hose is the one most likely to have hardened with age, and re-making that joint on a tired hose is how a slow leak starts.
