A single burner clicking without lighting is one thing. An igniter that keeps clicking after the flame has already caught, or clicking that happens across multiple burners simultaneously, points to a different cause worth understanding.
Step 1: Check for Moisture
A recent spill or a wet cleaning pass across the cooktop surface can cause a spark module to fire continuously as it tries and fails to complete a clean spark. Dry the area around the affected burner thoroughly and see if the clicking stops on its own within a few minutes.
Step 2: Look at the Cap Alignment
A burner cap that’s sitting even slightly crooked can create a persistent short-circuit path for the igniter, causing it to fire repeatedly rather than stopping once the flame catches. Lift it off and reseat it carefully, making sure it drops fully into place.
Step 3: Rule Out a Stuck Switch
If clicking continues across burners you’re not even using, the ignition switch itself may be stuck engaged rather than an issue with any individual burner or cap.
Step 4: When to Call
