What Fault 25 Means
Fault 25 is the short-circuit case on the ice tray probe: resistance below 660 ohms, which F&P notes as the sensor reading hot. A tray that always looks warm to the control system will never be declared frozen, so the cycle stalls at the same point Fault 24 stalls it, for the opposite electrical reason.
Common Causes of Fault 25
- Melt water tracking into the probe connector
- A crushed lead shorting against the ice maker chassis
- Internal failure of the probe to a short
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Before booking, empty and dry the ice bin and check nothing has been forced into the tray area, because a jammed bin or a block of fused ice can produce a similar complaint without any electrical problem at all.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Take the appliance off supply first; the ice maker bay carries mains wiring to its fill valve and mold heater.
- Melt water is the usual culprit here, and replacing the probe without finding where the water pooled leaves the same failure queued up.
- The ice maker mounts on locating pins that set its angle, and one refitted off those pins spills water down the compartment wall instead of into the tray.
- A short that has reached the module may have taken its input stage with it, which is a separate check the repair should include.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
