What 33 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 33 on Phase 1 SmartDrive machines is a water valve problem detected by the control module. F&P's sequence is short and practical: verify that the valve coils are not open circuit, and replace the display module only if the coils prove to be sound.
Common Causes of 33 (SmartDrive)
- An open circuit valve coil
- A connector off or poorly seated at the valve
- A control module that can no longer switch the valve circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check both taps are fully open and both hoses are free of kinks, then unplug the machine and make sure the valve connectors are pushed fully onto their terminals.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Turn both taps off and unplug the machine before the valves are touched, since these are live solenoids on pressurised connections.
- Testing a coil properly means measuring it disconnected, which cannot be done safely on a machine still on supply.
- Inlet hose washers harden with age, and a joint re-made on an old washer weeps behind the machine where nobody looks.
- Replacing the module when a coil had simply gone open circuit is the expensive way round this problem.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
