What 63 (SmartDrive) Means
Fault 63 is a Phase 5 code: the motor control module has detected an internal communications problem between its main control system and its pump control system. Both live on the same module, which is why F&P's action is simply to replace it.
Common Causes of 63 (SmartDrive)
- An internal communication failure within the motor control module
- A partial electronic failure affecting the pump control section
- Module degradation with age
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the wall for a minute and try once. Because the problem is internal to a single module, there is nothing else accessible to check.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the machine before the module is reached, as it sits on the incoming mains supply.
- This is a problem inside one sealed assembly, so there is no connector to reseat and no harness to test.
- Phase 5 modules differ from other phases, and a part chosen by fit rather than reference will not function.
- Configuration has to be completed after a module goes in, or the machine simply logs setup problems instead.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
