What Fault 30 Means

Fault 30 is a user warning stating that the lid lock failed to lock. F&P asks first that the lid be properly closed with the tongue engaged, and only then works through the lid lock harness, the lid lock itself, and the sensor module.

Common Causes of Fault 30

  • The lid not fully closed or the tongue not engaged
  • A damaged lid lock harness
  • A failed lid lock mechanism

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Open the lid fully and close it again firmly, making sure the tongue drops into its slot rather than resting on the edge. That is the manufacturer's own first step and it resolves a good share of these.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Switch off at the breaker before the lid mechanism is opened, because the lock circuit is fed from a mains-derived supply.
  • The lock is what keeps the lid closed while the drum turns, so it is not something to defeat in order to finish a load.
  • A tongue bent by forcing the lid never seats correctly afterwards, and it is not a part that adjusts back.
  • Anything stored on the lid presses it out of alignment, which stops the tongue reaching its slot even when nothing is broken.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

Fault 30 FAQ

The lock is looking for the tongue in its slot rather than for the lid looking shut. A lid held slightly proud by a load or by something on top produces this.

They are related but different. Fault 11 is an open circuit in the lock wiring; Fault 30 is the lock failing to engage, which F&P treats first as a user issue.
