What 106 Means
Fault 106 sits alongside 105 as a display-to-motor-control communications error. Where 105 is specifically a time-out, 106 covers the exchange failing in other ways. F&P again names either module as the possible replacement, so isolation is the whole job.
Common Causes of 106
- Corrupted data on the communication line
- A harness damaged where it flexes into the console
- A failing communication driver on either module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power the machine down for five minutes at the outlet. Note whether the display stays lit while the problem is present, since a live display with a broken link points at the wiring rather than the console.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the washer before the harness is traced, since it shares its run with mains wiring for most of its length.
- Reseating a connector can make the problem disappear temporarily and return once the machine is back in regular use, which wastes a visit.
- Testing continuity across a harness properly needs the machine fully de-energised and the connectors separated.
- Parts for this platform are no longer current in the United States, so a wrong module choice is harder to correct than it would be on a current model.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
