What 237 Means
Fault 237 is a temperature sensor error in which, as F&P puts it, the electronics picked up a continuity problem. The manual notes it is similar to error code 10 and directs the technician to replace the thermistor, moving to the motor control module only if the connections check out.
Common Causes of 237
- A break or intermittent connection in the thermistor circuit
- A thermistor failing intermittently rather than outright
- A corroded connector at the module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Not an owner test, but the practical sign is worth noting: washes that have started running noticeably hotter or colder than the program should give are what a drifting or intermittent thermistor produces.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Unplug the washer before the sensor circuit is reached, since the thermistor harness runs alongside the mains feed into the module.
- Intermittent continuity problems rarely show up on a single static reading, which is why they need proper testing rather than one check.
- F&P puts the thermistor before the module in the sequence, and reversing that order is the expensive way round.
- These machines are legacy in the United States, so matching a sensor by exact reference is worth the extra minute.
